Bode Miller

Opex Board Member & Olympic Skier

Bode Miller is one of the most decorated alpine skiers in history, celebrated for his versatility and dominance across all five skiing disciplines: downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, and combined. Born on October 12, 1977, in Easton, New Hampshire, Bode grew up immersed in nature, cultivating an independent spirit and a passion for skiing. Over his storied career, he earned six Olympic medals, 33 World Cup victories, and two overall World Cup titles, cementing his place as the most decorated male American alpine skier.

At the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, Bode won silver in the combined and giant slalom events. His historic 2010 Vancouver Olympics showcased his talent and resilience, where he claimed gold in the super combined, silver in the super-G, and bronze in the downhill. In his final Olympic appearance at the 2014 Sochi Games, he earned a bronze medal in the super-G, becoming one of the few athletes to medal in four alpine skiing disciplines.

Following his retirement from professional skiing in 2017, Bode transitioned his competitive edge into innovative ventures and advocacy. He co-founded Peak Skis, a company producing high-performance skis that blend cutting-edge technology with his extensive experience on the slopes. His commitment to inclusivity and youth development is reflected in the Turtle Ridge Foundation, a nonprofit organization he and his family established to support adaptive sports programs and youth athletics.

Bode also collaborates with various initiatives to enhance access to skiing and outdoor sports. His partnership with SNÖBAHN, an indoor ski and snowboard training facility, and his involvement with Alpine-X, which develops year-round indoor snow sports resorts, reflect his dedication to making skiing accessible regardless of geography or season. Additionally, his work with Revo Sunglasses promotes high-performance eyewear designed for outdoor enthusiasts, and his collaboration with Skeo advances sensor technology to help skiers refine their skills.

Bode’s influence extends to education as well. Through ICL Academy, a private school with a winter sports-focused curriculum, he supports young athletes striving to balance academics with elite training. These initiatives, combined with his storied athletic achievements, highlight Bode Miller’s lasting impact on sports, innovation, and advocacy.

As a father, husband, and entrepreneur, Bode continues to inspire others with his passion for excellence and his commitment to expanding access to the joys of skiing and outdoor activities. Whether in competition, business, or philanthropy, Bode’s legacy as a trailblazer endures.
